Nike has been known to throw some money around and no one has benefited more than the University of North Carolina ($3.4 million annually). Even Phil Knight's beloved Oregon Ducks ($2.8 million) doesn't get the yearly apparel pay out as the Tar Heels.
Well, now there's a new leader reaching into Nike's bottomless pit of money. The Crimson Tide of Alabama is the proud new owner of Nike's most lucrative deal in college sports. 'Bama inks a seven year extension worth $3.75 million annually.
For the record, the University of Michigan, who was a long time Nike client, has the richest deal in college sports, an eight year deal with Adidas worth $66.5 million which pays out in the neighborhood of $8.3 million per year.
