The most surprising Duke fan ever
May 20, 2010
I know. I never would have suspected it either. But after listening to Joshua Hairston's interview with Mike Maniscalco and Mark Thomas on 620 The Buzz Wednesday morning, I'm convinced.
Hairston comes from the D.C. area and he's good friends with former Terp Greivis Vasquez. When talking about his trip to the Comcast Center for this year's Duke-Maryland game Hairston let a secret slip (about four minutes in) about the ACC Player of the Year.
"He talks about Duke all the time, how much he loves Coach K, the staff and the program itself."
Wait. What? Loves Coach K?
"When I first met Greivis the first thing he kept talking about was how much he loved Duke and how much he loved Coach K. I thought he was being sarcastic at first but he's very serious about it," Hairston said.
When they [Maryland] were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament we were running a camp together at Montrose (Hairston's high school for his senior season). A kid asked him who he wanted to win the tournament and he said 'Duke all the way'. He's always been a big Duke fan and he hopes we can pull it off. He is a true Duke fan even though he plays for Maryland."
Weird.
But in all honesty. It's another reason I'm a huge Vasquez fan. He takes a lot of heat from fans in this area because he has an objectionable image as an edgy, cocky player. But I've always loved that edge. And hearing about his respect for a great program, a rival program, makes me like him even more.

Anyone out there ever had an epiphany that they've just spent the last 30 minutes of their life matching wits with Spencer Pratt?- Posted by bait taker

Did someone really say "bull's milk"? OK, that was kinda funny. But hey, nothing wrong with eighth grade humor once in a while.
But seriously, we need football season to get here asap, or this is going to be a long, lame summer of blogging!
well thank god you are here now and saved the day......hahahahahaha.
Somebody had to do it, man! ;)

Coach K is still GREAT has never heard of Roy Williams donating to charity. Well, off the top of my head there's the Roy Williams Fast Break Against Cancer, and the UNC Alumni charity basketball game every year, the Ronald McDonald charity golf tournament . . . but that's about all I can think of right now. I'm sure if you googled it you would find more. He, just like Coach K, does a lot.But this is the funny part:

I think I'm more shocked that you know who Spencer Pratt is!!!
Who is Spencer Pratt????
He's "shocked" that somebody knows who Spencer Pratt is, but he wants to be clear that HE doesn't know who Spencer Pratt is. Yeah right, that makes sense. Why are you shocked, CKISG? That's an awfully strange emotion to feel if you don't even know who this person is. (Some people are just so insecure, that just admitting that they know about tabloid celebrities makes them feel vulnerable.)

and if you call women's soccer a sport then the joke is on you....
Umm, no. If you make misogynistic comments like that, the joke is actually on you.
Dude, women's sports are awful.....lets call a spade a spade. Any man with a backbone would have no choice but to agree with this....
Nope. Any man with a backbone recognizes that UNC's Womens soccer team is an incredible dynasty, "dude".
Hey, the 1950's called. They want you back by tomorrow.
yeah, that coach Dorance must really have a way with all of his players, oh wait...
