Baddour: ACC was concerned about TV, not expansion

Conference expansion has been a major point of interest for fans and media ever since the Big Ten began exploring the idea. Not so much for the athletic directors of the ACC.

At the recent ACC meetings in Amelia Island, Florida, the conference had another important matter to discuss.

"It really was centered on the television contract, and very little on expansion," said North Carolina AD Dick Baddour on 99.9FM The Fan. "A ton has been written about it, but there isn't much to say about it. We should be conscious of what's going on, but the intensity of the conversation was about the television contract."

But now that the ACC has hammered out a new deal with ESPN, will the conference turn its attention to conference expansion?

"I think the ACC is positioned well," said Baddour. "I think we're at a great number for us, and we're soon going to announce a television contract that reflects the strength of the conference."

What are you worried about? Once you find Lee Fowler's replacement, NCSU will be bringing in ACC and NCAA championships by the boatload--at least that is what I'm being led to believe.

I do not trust John Swofford as far as you can throw him. He has looked after his beloved tarheels every year. He will throw The ACC under the bus, every chance he gets, IF it supports the tarheels. He is one of the good old boys from Easleys days. As we have never had a more corrupt governor. Who was his roomate in college?

Let's see. Easley's wife had a teaching position where? And this eventually led to the resignation of whose chancellor?

Wow, talk about making the leap from A to Z with absolutely no proof at all. In case you forgot, Swofford led the push for ACC expansion six years ago, which UNC and Duke OPPOSED. But hey, don't let useless facts get in the way of another good conspiracy theory. LOL!

We have a good conference right now. It was smart to bring in VT, Miami, and BC. The crowds have grown for our NC schools. TV rights is also improving. We don't need to worry about the Big 10 nor anyone else. Go Hokies.
