Marvin Austin suddenly a Twitter quitter

Marvin Austin's Twitter account, which was an entertaining follow thanks to prolific updating, disappeared overnight. The Tar Heels defensive tackle was one of the players recently interviewed by the NCAA.

North Carolina coaches have cracked down on Twitter usage in recent months. In June, Austin had to delete a tweet because he had "the important people following me..my bad..shouldve known."

Now a visit to his Twitter account reads "Sorry, that page does not exist" and all updates have been scrubbed clean.

According to ESPN national college football reporter Joe Schad, Austin was among those Tar Heels interviewed by the NCAA for possible agent contact and possible gifts or extra benefits. Questions involved a recent trip to Miami, which Austin had mentioned on Twitter.

Schad reports that Austin was also asked why he was seen driving the vehicle of former Tar Heel and current San Francisco 49er Kentwan Balmer and if he stayed at Balmer's apartment. Austin tweeted he was with Balmer and current North Carolina teammate Mike McAdoo on June 11th.

Marvin Austin - the gift that keeps on giving.

RE: Marvin Austin suddenly a Twitter quitter

There has been a truck load of people that have gotten into a lot of hot water because of a stupid tweet. It is out there. I'll bet some wish they had a chance to take some things back.

All NC state fans are hoping for a 3 win season.

In our first three games.

Or did you mean we're hoping for 3 wins for Carolina? In that case, you're right!

RE: Marvin Austin suddenly a Twitter quitter

If you can get in trouble for driving a teammates vehicle, that is total bs. If he's driving Lawrence Taylor's car that is one thing, but he and Kentwan were teammates. I'm sure everyone has borrowed a buddy's car at some point.

Buddies are one thing. Current NFL-player buddies are something different (in the eyes of the NFL).

meant to say "in the eyes of the NCAA"

(can't edit my posts here).

According to turtle, UNC players are not adults and therefore should not be held to adult standards. She said they are allowed to tweet whatever they want and that adults should not be following them.

I told her whatever is said on Twitter is the same as speaking in public...she disagreed.

Sorry, Turtle. You're wrong on this one then.
