Jun 21, 2011
Facing their second elimination game in three days, the North Carolina coaching staff has named Greg Holt the starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against Vanderbilt at the College World Series.
Holt has played in 32 games this season but has made only one start on the mound for the Tar Heels. The senior went 5.2 innings allowing three runs on six hits while walking four and striking out six against Miami in the opening game of the ACC Tournament. The start will be the fourth of Holt's career.
North Carolina lost to Vanderbilt 7-3 in the opening round of the College World Series. The re-match is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:10 from Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
