Supplemental draft it is for McAdoo
Aug 12, 2011
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday that former North Carolina defensive end Mike McAdoo will be part of the NFL Supplemental Draft on August 17th.
McAdoo joins Georgia running back Caleb King, Northern Illinois safety Tracy Wilson, Western Carolina cornerback Torez Jones and Lindenwood defensive end Keenan Mace in the draft.
Ohio State's quarterback Terrelle Pryor still hasn't been declared eligible.
McAdoo and Pryor were both involved in NCAA investigations into their respective colleges. McAdoo was declared permanently ineligible, after missing the entire 2010 season, because he allegedly received improper benefits from an agent while also committed academic improprieties.
UNC's appeal to the NCAA to have McAdoo reinstated was denied in February, in July McAdoo sued the NCAA and university for an injuction but was also denied.

- Posted by jsp1267- Posted by BogeyBoyWhat concern did the NCAA have for this young man? He cheated on one paper and he was caught. He was penalized. Why wasn't he given a second chance? His benefit violation involved a TOTAL of $110, his share of a hotel room while visiting with his teammate Marvin Austin in Marvin's hometown. He didn't do a Reggie Bush, or even a T. Pryor, and yet he was banned for life after his sophomore year. It just seems out of proportion to what the NCAA has done in many other cases. The NCAA did not even make Pryor miss a game, allowing him to play in the Sugar Bowl after some of his violations were known! If they cared about the kid, they would have given him a second chance.- Posted by genesmith2
Actually, the NCAA found McAdoo guilty of cheating on multiple (3) papers spanning several semesters. They appear to have done a better job of investigating the fraud than the UNC Student DA's office and Honor Court.
Goes to show you most of you dont know what your talking about. UNC reported the 3 violations in error and then tried to amend the info. The NCAA didn't investigagte the academic side at all. UNC is as much to blame for what happned to him as the NCAA is. His violations wsa one paper not 3, but since UNC reported 3, the NCAA went with that. When this happens to a State player you will see how idiotic it is that the NCAA actually states you can only appearl the ruling of the case, no new information can be added! If UNC would have reported one violation he would have been playing by now as a failing grade and suspension from school for the semester is standard. Duke had a football player do that a year or so ago as well as Newton the Duke center years ago. Bottom line, plagarism is not an NCAA issue, the illegal benefit of the tutor was.
Actually jsp, before you start telling people they don't know what they're talking about you should probably uh... know what you're talking about.
When UNC self-reported potential violations they indicated McAdoo may have received impermissible help from a tutor in three separate courses. This was not an error - there were three instances where it McAdoo may have received impermissible benefits.
The Honor Court only found evidence to convict McAdoo on one of those occasions. That the Honor Court arrived at that decision does not mean that McAdoo only received improper help on just one occasion... it's just the decision they reached.
The Honor Court reached that decision despite the fact that McAdoo, in his interviews with the university, had stated that the assistance provide by Jennifer Wiley was consistent throughout his time working with her and that there was incontrovertible proof that that assistance had exceeded permissible bounds in the Swahili class. What makes it more laughable is that in one of those cases that the Honor Court determined there wasn't enough proof to state improper assistance had been provided, they had an email from Wiley to McAdoo stating "Great job Mike! I added your citations and bibliography."
So you can choose to believe that this was one isolated incident but anyone who has actually read the correspondence on the case and applied some common sense would disagree with the findings of the HC and an investigative staff who could see plagiarism that was slapping them in the face.
