Posted November 25, 2013

2013 NC Player of the Year Finalsts

For the first time ever, the Capitol Broadcasting Company’s team of sports reporters from TV, radio and the Web will combine to award a Player of the Year in college football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. The good news for you – the fan – is that you will also be involved.

There will be a 16-person committee consisting of six radio representatives from 620 The Buzz and 99.9 The Fan ESPN Radio, five from WRAL-TV, three from WRALSportsFan.com and two regular WRAL contributors. A fan vote will be weighted equal to one member of our committee bringing the total number of votes to 17.

A list of semifinalists was identified last week and now we are down to the final five. This year’s football finalists are:

The winner will be determined by a scaled vote (similar to the Heisman) with 1st places votes worth 5 points and 5th place votes worth 1 point. The honoree will be named the Monday following the last regular season contest.

I guess your not good at reading stats.

My vote is for Carden. ECU may not be in a power conference, however ECU is not just barely winning, they're winning by extremely large margins. Also, Carden is leading the country in completion %. His stats are up there will all the Heisman candidates. There's a good chance Carden could exceed the 40 + TD mark this year.

He may have not played the whole season but I vote for Maquise Williams. He has the Heels riding high! He should at least get honorable mention.

The Tar Heel fan in me makes me want to vote for Ebron, but to be fair, I have to give the nod to Carden.

Let it go dude. Get over the 55-31 beating you got in Kenan. Man, that loss to us has really bothered you because you can't seem to let it go. You should concentrate on Duke and not a team that beat you two months ago. It is a good thing you are not a coach.

    Brandon Connette for DUKE

Hmmm, good question, I think he had to retire because he was too talented for the NFL. Maybe he is putting his Swahili degree to good use and teaching at UNC?
