Sophomore N'Dea Bryant scored a career-high 14 points to lead No. 15/14 North Carolina to a 100-49 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon from Carmichael Arena.

North Carolina (8-2) received a balanced effort on both sides of the ball today with five double-digit scorers. Xylina McDaniel had a team-high 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while Bryant, Allisha Gray and Stephanie Mavunga each tossed in 14 points. Diamond DeShields added 10 points.

The Tar Heels also had nine different players come up with two or more steals, led by Latifah Coleman's five swipes. UNC also tied its season high with 11 blocks, including a career-high four from McDaniel.

Erin Bratcher scored 14 points to lead Charleston Southern (3-4). DJ Fowler had 12.

The Tar Heels came up with a season-high 25 steals, and converted 31 turnovers into 47 points in the run-away win over the Buccaneers.

Carolina showed little effects from a 10-day layoff for exams by racing out to a 10-0 lead in the opening four minutes. McDaniel fueled the quick start with the first five points of the game.

The Buccaneers drained a three-pointer to make it 10-3, but the Tar Heels scored the next 14 points, and led 24-3 after a Danielle Butts' jumper at the 11:54 mark.

CSU responded with nine-straight points and a 13-3 run got the visitors back into the game, but still trailed 27-16.

Hillary Summers later made baskets on three-straight possessions to put the Heels back up 43-24 with 3:04 left until halftime.

Mavunga's layup just before the halftime buzzer gave Carolina a 49-30 lead at intermission.

Three fouls in the first half slowed Gray in the opening 20 minutes, but she came out on fire in the second half scoring eight points in the first 4:28 to increase her clubs advantage to 61-30.

The lead never dipped below 29 points the rest of the game and grew to 51 points on a field goal by Hillary Fuller to make the final score 100-49.

Mavunga hauled in 11 rebounds to go with 14 points, giving her the sixth double-double of her freshman campaign. DeShields handed out a season-high seven assists.

Carolina shot 58.2 percent, its second-best shooting game of the year. The Tar Heels entered the game leading the nation in field goal defense, allowing opponents to shoot 30.1%. Charleston Southern shot 27.1 percent today on 16-of-59 field goals.

North Carolina heads to Myrtle Beach to play two games next week at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The Tar Heels will play New Orleans on Monday at 6:30 p.m., and No. 10 South Carolina on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
