— Senior Chelsea Gray and junior Elizabeth Williams each recorded double-doubles to lead the second-ranked Duke women’s basketball team to a 122-77 exhibition victory over Glenville State Wednesday in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Williams finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds while Gray totaled 12 points and dished 11 assists. Sophomore Alexis Jones registered a game-high 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field and seniors Haley Peters and Tricia Liston also hit double figures, contributing 19 and 15 points, respectively.

Duke jumped out to a 13-0 advantage at the start of the contest, imposing a fast tempo of play from the opening tip. The squad displayed balanced scoring throughout the first half, and stretched the margin to 32 points midway through the period on a three-pointer by Liston.

Glenville State struggled to contain the fast-moving Duke offense, surrendering 18 points in transition during the first 20 minutes of play. The Blue Devils also forced the Pioneers into 21 turnovers, with Jones grabbing four steals. The point guard from Irving, Texas turned in a 7-of-7 shooting performance in the first half, pacing Duke to a 68-35 advantage at the break.

The Blue Devils continued to attack the basket in the second period, logging 69.7 percent shooting from the floor as a team. Senior Richa Jackson shined inside the paint, tallying 13 second-half points, and freshman Oderah Chidom pulled down seven rebounds as Duke used its height to capitalize on the boards. Fellow rookie Kendall McCravey-Cooper had an impressive performance in just her second game in Cameron, collecting five rebounds – four on the offensive end – and four blocks to go with seven points.

An 11-3 run by the home squad midway through the half propelled the Blue Devils to a strong finish, with junior Amber Henson launching a three-pointer eight seconds before the buzzer to cap the game.

On the night, Duke shot 60.5 percent from the floor and 54.5 percent from three-point range.

The Blue Devils continue exhibition play Sunday, Nov. 3 in a 2 p.m. tilt with Coker College in Cameron.
