Durham, N.C. — Coming off posting her first collegiate victory, Duke University freshman Yu Liu has been named the ACC Golfer of the Month for March on Tuesday. Liu collected a win and a tied third place finish, while leading third-ranked Duke to two victories.
In two tournaments, Liu carded her first collegiate victory and a tied third-place finish against impressive fields while notching a 71.83 stroke average in March. At the Darius Rucker Invitational, Liu totaled rounds of 69, 72 and 70 for a 54-hole total of two-under-par, 211. She claimed the title in a one-hole playoff against LSU’s Caroline Nistrup.
At the Bryan National Collegiate, she notched rounds of 74, 72 and 74 for a four-over-par, 220, to place tied third in very challenging conditions. In six career collegiate tournaments, Liu has notched six top-10 finishes, becoming just the third Blue Devil to accomplish that feat. Liu is currently ranked No. 2 nationally in the Golfweek Sagarin Performance Index.
It marks the second time in her short career Liu has been named ACC Golfer of the Month as she also won the honor in October. Duke won the team title in both the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and the Bryan National Collegiate and now owns three team titles on the season.
