WGOLF: NC State Tied For Seventh After Day Two Of Lady Puerto Rico Classic

The NC State women’s golf team is tied for seventh place after the second day of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,191-yard River Course at the Rio Mar Country Club.

The Pack posted an 11-over par, 299 team total in Monday’s second round and is 20 strokes off the lead of first-place Alabama with a two-day total of 27-over par 603.

Sophomore Augusta James is tied for 12th place at 3-over par 147 after posting an even par second round. Junior Ana Menendez moved up 25 spots into a tie for 22nd after a 2-over par 74 gave her a two-day tally of 7-over par, 151. Sophomore Vivian Tsui and junior Brittany Marchand are tied for 37th at 10-over par 154. Marchand posted a 4-over par 76. Senior Amanda Baker is tied for 50th after shooting an 80, giving her a two-round total of 11-over 155. Junior Lindsay McGetrick, playing as an individual, is tied for 32nd with a 6-over par 78 for a two-day total of 9-over par 153.

Tsui’s second-round 77 was highlighted by an ace on her final hole of the day, the 177-yard, par-3 10th. Tsui’s seven-iron shot dropped to within five feet of the hole before rolling into the bottom of the cup.

“We made better decisions on the course in the second round,” said head coach Page Marsh. “I’m looking for a strong finish tomorrow and I’m proud of the determination they showed out there today.”

Arkansas’ Emily Tubert is overall leader, in the clubhouse with a two-day tally of 4-under par 140 after posting her second consecutive 70.

The Crimson Tide is atop the team leaderboard with a two-day total at 7-over par 583 after posting a second-round 2-over par 290.

The final round gets underway at 7:30 a.m. at the Rio Mar’s River Course Tuesday.
