Greensboro, N.C. — North Carolina State’s Scott Wood and North Carolina’s P.J. Hairston were named co-ACC Players of the week, the league announced Monday.
Hairston posted back-to-back personal bests last week as the Tar Heels split a pair of conference games. On Wednesday at Duke, the sophomore from Greensboro played a career-high 34 minutes and tied a personal mark with 23 points. He also chipped in eight rebounds, three steals and two assists in the effort. Hairston followed that up with a career-high 29 points on a 6-for-12 effort from three-point range in 29 minutes against Virginia. He also added seven rebounds in the win against the Cavaliers.
Wood went 6-for-11 on 3-pointers in the Wolfpack’s overtime win against Virginia Tech Saturday to bring his career total to 299. He played 43 minutes and led NC State with 22 points while adding three rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
Maryland’s Seth Allen, whose free throws proved to be the winning points in the Terps upset of Duke Saturday, was named the ACC Rookie of the Week. The freshman score 16 points against the Blue Devils – all in the second half.
