Flushing, N.Y. — Top seed Jamie Loeb of North Carolina won the Main Draw Singles on Sunday with a straight-set victory over second seed Robin Anderson of UCLA at the 2013 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship.
The victory caps an amazing fall season for the freshman from Ossining, N.Y., roughly 30 miles from the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing.
The 6-3, 6-2 win gives Loeb a 19-1 record spanning the first three collegiate events of her career. She has won 16-consecutive singles matches since her run to the Riviera/ITA All-American title in October when she also defeated Anderson in straight sets.
Loeb has beaten the No. 1, 2 (twice), 3 and 4-ranked players this fall according to the preseason ITA Rankings.
Classmate and doubles partner Hayley Carter hasn't been too bad herself. She made the semifinals of the National Indoors, before falling to Anderson, and will finish the fall season with a 19-3 singles record.
Carolina returns to action Jan 18-20 at the Freeman Memorial Championship in Las Vegas.
