WTEN: No. 11 UNC wins 5-2 over Wake Forest

Raleigh, N.C. — No. 11 North Carolina had little trouble in posting a 5-2 victory over Wake Forest on Friday afternoon from the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
North Carolina (11-2, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) won the doubles point in a little over 30 minutes as the fifth-ranked duo of Caroline Price and Whitney Kay won 8-1 on court two. Minutes later ninth-ranked Jamie Loeb and Hayley Carter secured the doubles point with an 8-4 win on court one.
Loeb, the top-ranked singles player in the country, won the first set 6-0 before her opponent retired trailing 3-0 in the second set.
Carter, eighth in the latest singles rankings, surrendered only one point in a 6-1, 6-0, win on court two.
No. 52 Caroline Price gave Carolina a 4-0 lead over the Deacs with a 6-0, 6-4, victory on court three.
Katie Vialle picked up a straight-set win at #5 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
No. 38 Wake Forest (8-2, 1-2) picked up two victories in three sets after the match was clinched for the Tar Heels.
Carolina visits No. 1 Duke on Sunday in Durham at 12 p.m.
