— The North Carolina women’s tennis team continued to dominate the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship on Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Whitney Kay and Caroline Price advanced in the doubles bracket with a gutty three-set win over Clemson’s duo of Beatrice Gumulya and Jessy Rompies, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 (5).

They will face Duke’s tandem of Beatrice Capra and Hanna Mar with the winner advancing to the Final Four.

Third-seeded Hayley Carter and Jamie Loeb also moved into the quarters with a 6-2, 6-3, victory over 13th-ranked Quinn Gleason and Britney Sanders of Notre Dame.

They will take on Pieun Burgmans and Emily Fllickinger from Auburn on Saturday.

In singles play, Loeb got a bit of redemption from Breaunna Addison of Texas with a 7-5, 6-4, victory on Friday. Addison beat Loeb back in September, one of only three setbacks for the ACC Player of the Year on the season. The freshman from Ossining, New York, improves to 53-3 in singles this year.

She will play 24th-ranked Lynn Chi of California on Saturday.

And last but certainly not least, Carter recorded singles victory No. 50 in her remarkable freshman campaign with a 7-5, 6-2, victory over Jenny Jullien of St. Mary’s (Calif.).

The ACC Freshman of the Year will face 32nd-ranked Danielle Collins of Virginia in the quarterfinals. She upset No. 2 seed Robin Anderson of UCLA on Friday.

Carolina is the only program with two doubles teams alive among the eight left fighting for a national championship. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels join Duke as the only teams left with two singles players still playing heading into quarterfinal action on Saturday.

All four Carolina players have gained All-America status for advancing this far in both the singles and doubles brackets.
